About Dichroic Glass: "Dichroic" refers to the two colors that can be seen when the glass is viewed from different angles. Dichroic glass, sometimes called "Fairy Glass," possesses amazing color and shimmer. Mermaid's Dream dichroic glass pieces are thoughtfully designed to create one-of-a-kind pieces and patterns that you won't find anywhere else. Each piece is handcut and fired to approx. 1500 degrees then allowed to cool very slowly, a process which takes several hours. Next the piece is cold-worked and re-fired to bring out a smooth high polish. Often a piece will require multiple firings to reach MDJ's high standards. The result is a stunning piece of jewelry that is sure to bring you joy!
